Volunteering to help coach the 5th grade girls REBA basketball team at Marshall Middle School was a great experience. Initially, we stepped up because our daughter is a 5th grader and wanted to play, and there wasn't any other interest from anyone else. This opportunity also gave me a chance to interact with my 5th grade students in a new light- on a team instead of in the classroom. Our girls went on to go undefeated and win the championship, but more importantly, our girls showed me what it means to be a great teammate, a cheerleader for their peers, and how to work hard towards a common goal. I'm so glad I was able to help coach them!
